Several nations, including India, remain under lockdown as coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of abating. Markets across the world opened slightly higher as US pushed a $2 trillion dollar package to help the economy fight pack Covid-19's effects. Asian markets also saw some respite as Sensex closed 1,800 points higher. Death toll soared in Spain and Italy, with the former now having more coronavirus deaths than China - where the disease had originated in a seafood market in Wuhan province. India reported 606 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths till Wednesday, of which 43 people have recovered.

Spain request medical supply from China to tackle Covid-19 pandemic
Spain is reportedly buying medical equipment worth 432 million euros to tackle the pandemic. The announcement came as Spain saw the number of deaths surge to 3,434 after more than 738 people died in the past 24 hours, overtaking the figure in China where the virus originated late last year.
S&P 500 and Dow Jones open higher
As US government announced a $2 trillion package, S&P 500 opened higher by 10.44 points, or 0.43%, at 2,457.77. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 345.43 points, or 1.67%, at the open to 21,050.34, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 3.50 points, or 0.05%, to 7,421.36 .
Ministry of Home Affairs exempts more services from lockdown
In a fresh order, MHA included the following in essential category - ATM management, cash management, pay and accounts staff of commercial establishments, veterinary hospitals and research labs, movement of LPG, manufacturing units of packaging material for food and medicines.

Congress MP from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi said that immediate financial support is required for the nation's impoverished. "India is fighting a war against the coronavirus. Maharashtra reports 14 new cases of coronavirus
Maharashtra has reported 14 new cases of coronavirus infections in the state. ( of those cases were reported from Mumbai, four from Sangli, one from Thane. The total number of cases in Maharashtra has crossed 100.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has asked 1,500 crore package to support West Bengal's government's efforts to tackle Covid-19 outbreak. She told media-persons, "We had made the same request at the all-party meeting two days back. The Centre should announce a special financial package for the state in the current situation."
