Several nations, including India, remain under lockdown as coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of abating. Markets across the world opened slightly higher as US pushed a $2 trillion dollar package to help the economy fight pack Covid-19's effects. Asian markets also saw some respite as Sensex closed 1,800 points higher. Death toll soared in Spain and Italy, with the former now having more coronavirus deaths than China - where the disease had originated in a seafood market in Wuhan province. India reported 606 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths till Wednesday, of which 43 people have recovered.

Air India to fly back Israeli nationals via special flight
Air India will fly back over 300 Israeli nationals via a special flight on Thursday, according to news agency IANS.
The national carrier will operate the service on from New Delhi's IGI Airport to Tel Aviv, Israel.The return flight, however, will not carry any passengers back.
According to a senior Air India official quoted by IANS, a Boeing 777-300 extended range aircraft will be pressed into service to carry out this operation.
Three more test positive in Tamil Nadu: Minister
Three more people, including an 18-year-old male (who came in contact with one of the patients at Rajiv Gandhi Govt Hospital), a 63-year-old male (who has a travel history to Dubai, and a 66-year-old male (a contact of Thai nationals at IRTT, Perundurai) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, news agency ANI quoted the state health minister as saying.

Toll collection suspended at highways: Gadkari
Due to Covid-19 lockdown, the NHAI has decided to temporaily suspend toll collection in highways across toll plazas in India.
In view of Covid-19, it has been ordered to temporarily suspend the collection of toll at all toll plaza across India. This will not only reduce inconvenience to the supply of emergency services but also save critical time. #IndiaFightsCorona

Covid-19 claims life of octogenarian in Gujarat
An 85-year-old woman died due to Covid-19 in Gujarat. She was admitted to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. ANI says she had traveled abroad.

Number of Covid-19 cases well below global benchmark in India: Report
A report by CPC analytics says that situation in India in the aftermath of the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak is “cautiously optimistic”. “A 33 per cent increase in cases per day is the global benchmark. Cases have been doubling every 2.1 days internationally. Anything below that is a good sign,” said Sahil Deo, co-founder of CPC Analytics to Hindustan Times.
Chile yet to impose lockdown sees Covid-19 cases cross 1,000 mark

IMF, World Bank call for exemption of debt payments from poverty-ridden economies
IMF and World Bank asked major economies to hold on debt payments from the world's poorest nations so that they can compose themselves in order to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. "The World Bank Group and the IMF believe it is imperative at this moment to provide a global sense of relief for developing countries as well as a strong signal to financial markets," the Washington-based development lenders said in a joint statement.
German parliament passes 1.1 trillion euro coronavirus rescue package
As European economies deal with Covid-19's deadly blow, the German parliament voted for measures amounting to almost 1.1 trillion euros to shield Europe's largest economy from further downturn.
