With 82,170 new Covid-19 cases, India goes past six million mark

On Monday, India added 82,170 cases and 1,039 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease which pushed the tally to over six million, as per the Union health ministry’s dashboard. The active cases have climbed to 962,640 whereas over five million people have recovered so far. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh continue to be the five worst-affected states. Globally, the number of deaths has crossed one million mark in a caseload of 33.3 million, a worldometers data shows. United States, India, Brazil and Russia continue to be the four worst-affected countries while Colombia has overtaken fellow Latin American country Peru to be the fifth worst-hit. Spain, Mexico, Argentina and South Africa complete the list of the ten worst-hit countries.

Mizoram's Covid-19 tally nearing 2,000

The Covid-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 3,794 on Monday as 20 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. One more patient succumbed to the infection, taking the union territory's death toll to 53, he added, reports PTI.
