Highlights: Himachal Pradesh’s Covid-19 tally climbs to 14,457
The Union health ministry on Monday said that the first vaccine in India will most likely be available by early 2021 adding the research to develop a Covid-19 vaccine is being “done expeditiously”.

On Monday, India added 82,170 cases and 1,039 deaths due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease which pushed the tally to over six million, as per the Union health ministry’s dashboard. The active cases have climbed to 962,640 whereas over five million people have recovered so far. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh continue to be the five worst-affected states. Globally, the number of deaths has crossed one million mark in a caseload of 33.3 million, a worldometers data shows. United States, India, Brazil and Russia continue to be the four worst-affected countries while Colombia has overtaken fellow Latin American country Peru to be the fifth worst-hit. Spain, Mexico, Argentina and South Africa complete the list of the ten worst-hit countries.

Covid-19 cases in Australia's 'hotspot' fall to single digits
Victoria, Australia's second most-populous state, has said its daily rise in new coronavirus infections fell to single digits for the first time in more than three months with just five new cases and three deaths being reported in the last 24 hours.
