More than 900 people arrested for violating lockdown in Kolkata
More than 900 people were arrested in West Bengal capital Kolkata on Thursday for violating lockdown and not obeying shutdown restrictions, reports news agency PTI.
Although major parts of the state wore a deserted look, people in some parts of the city were seen jostling with each other in markets to buy essential commodities, disregarding social distancing norms.
Mexico registers 450 new cases of coronavirus and 37 deaths
Mexican health officials reported on Thursday 450 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 37 new deaths, bringing the country's total to 6,297 cases and 486 deaths, reports Reuters.
Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell said last week the country might have as many as 26,500 people infected with the fast-spreading coronavirus.
Citing government models, Lopez-Gatell said many who are infected likely did not have symptoms or were not diagnosed.
