The Covid-19 infections continued to rise in 40 United States out of 50, while the US President Donald Trump slammed China over the outbreak of the deadly disease.

The US on Thursday reported over 53,000 new cases of coronavirus, reported The Washington Post. With 10,109 new cases, Florida on Thursday (local time) recorded its biggest single-day hike.

As per the latest update by the Johns Hopkins University, the number of Covid-19 infections stands at 2,735,339 in the United States.

Meanwhile, India recorded the biggest spike so far in the daily cases as 20,903 people tested positive for the Covid-19. The total number has now risen to 625,544 including 227, 439 active cases. In Delhi, the Covid-19 infection tally mounted to 92,175.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research has selected 12 institutes for a clinical trial of the country's first indigenous Covid-19 vaccine.

WHO endorses tests by ICMR, 2 others for TB diagnosis, drug resistance detection

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has endorsed tests by three research bodies, including ICMR, for initial diagnosis of tuberculosis and detection of resistance to a drug most commonly used to treat the disease.

The three research bodies said their tests -- "rapid molecular Truenat assays -- have been endorsed by the global health body for initial diagnosis of tuberculosis and subsequent detection of rifampicin resistance in adults and children.
