Karnataka cases go up to 659
With 85 percent of the deaths reported from the US and Europe, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of more than 2,50,000 people. US continues to be the worst-affected country with more than 68,000 lives lost. China, where the pandemic had initiated late in December, has reported no deaths from the Covid-19 since the last two days.

India has seen cases cross the 46,000 mark. Currently, India’s confirmed cases tally has touched 46,711, registering a spike of more than 3,900 cases. Nationwide death toll has reached 1,583. Maharashtra remains the most-affected state with above 15,525 cases and 841 deaths.

Govt starts two special flights from Doha to India
Govt of India has decided to operate two special flights from Doha to India. The first one will be from Doha to Kochi on 7th May and the second will be from Doha to Thiruvananthapuram on 10th May: Embassy of India in Doha.

The French government supported "StopCOVID" contact-tracing app could be out by June, said Cedric O, Minister for Digital Affairs. Cedric O lamented that Apple declined to participate in the development of the project. "Apple could have helped us make the application work even better on the iPhone. They have not wished to do so," he said.

The Spanish Government said that unemployment figures in the nation rose by more than 280,000 due to collapse of tourism (primarily). The amount of people needing state help has reached 137%.
DG CSIR says unfair to compare hydroxychloroquine and remdesivir
Dr S Mande, director general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) said until there is no surety of the efficacy of both remdesivir and hydroxychloroquine it will be unfair to compare them.
