India is witnessing a surge in confirmed cases due to the novel coronavirus outbreak ever since it started unlocking activities in a phased manner. Malls, restaurants and places of worship opened for the first time since March 25 when a nationwide lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of virus. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country’s Covid-19 tally reached 276,583 with death toll at 7,745.
As per a recent study, India is among a group of 15 high-risk nations where relaxation of lockdowns can lead to a spike in new cases.
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Assam showed a rapid rise in cases when compared to the rest of the country due to the migrant exodus over the last two weeks.
United States still continues to remain the worst-hit nation by the pandemic followed by Brazil, Russia, UK and Spain. With Latin America nations severely suffering from the pandemic, Argentina just days after extending its lockdown measures in the capital city of Buenos Aires has been registering 1,000 new cases per day.

Mukund Keni, an Nationalist Congress Party corporator from Kalwa in Thane district of Maharashtra died due to Coronavirus last night. This is the second incident of a corporator losing battle to Covid-19 in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Community Kicthens, langar services to resume at religious places in Punjab
Punjab government said that it will allow community kitchens, langar services and serving of prasad to resume at religious places in the state but it will be subjected to following physical distancing norms and other hygiene precautions while preparing and serving food amid the Covid-19 outbreak, reports ANI.

Coronavirus nears peak in Mexico, but risks remain, WHO officials say
According to World Health Organization officials, Coronavirus in Mexico is advancing towards its peak level of infections but social distancing should continue until a vaccine is available. Mexico began a gradual re-opening of the economy at the start of this month. The death toll due to the infection stands at 14,000 and confirmed cases have crossed 120,000, reports Reuters.

As per the figures released by the Johns Hopkins University on Tuesday, Coronavirus has killed 819 people in the United States. There have been a total of 111,751 deaths in the country and 1,973,803 cases of infection, reports AFP.

South Korea's jobless rate jumps to 10 year high
South Korea’s jobless rate jumped to a 10-year high in May as the coronavirus pandemic continued to take a toll on the trade-dependent economy. The unemployment rate climbed to 4.5% last month, from 3.8% in April, data from the statistics office showed on Wednesday, reports Bloomberg.
Arizona calls for emergency plan as Covid-19 cases spike after reopening
Arizona again told hospitals to activate the coronavirus emergency plans after cases spiked following reopening, turning it into a virus hotspot along with neighboring Southwest states. The state's stay-at-home order ended on May 15, and its cases have increased 115 percent since then, leading a former state health chief to warn Arizona may need new social distancing measures or field hospitals, reports Reuters.
