On Tuesday and Wednesday, India reported a slight dip in the number of coronavirus cases per day which were at an all time high last week. This gave an indication that the country might witness a downward trend in the coming days. But on Thursday, as per the health ministry, more than 45,000 cases and 1,129 were reported. Today, nearly 50,000 people tested positive for Covid-19 which took the country's tally to 12,87,945. The death toll has now reached 30,601.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka continue to be worst-affected from the pandemic.
Delhi over the past few days has seen a reduction as the number of cases recorded per day are less than 2,000. The national capital's recovery rate which was previously at 36% has now gone up to 84%, which is much higher than the national recovery rate.

Amid the ongoing race between countries to produce a vaccine which is effective and has least side effects, the Serum Institute of India is hopeful of developing a vaccine by October-November this year and it plans to produce over one billion doses in the coming year.

Puducherry's Covid-19 tally crosses 2,500-mark
97 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Puducherry, taking the number of total cases in the union territory to 2,513. The death toll stands at 34 while more than 1,400 people have recovered from the infection, reports PTI.

The Public Relations Department of the Central Railway said that the Central Railway Mumbai Division has launched an App called CheckIn Master for the ticket checking staff at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbaio with a view to curb the spread of Covid-19, reports ANI.

Chhattisgarh’s Covid-19 tally climbs to 6,370; death toll at 34
116 more people tested positive for coronavirus in Chhattisgarh, taking the total number of cases in the state to nearly 6,400. The death toll has gone up to 34 and 4,387 have recovered from the infection, reports PTI.

375 new cases push Rajasthan’s Covid-19 tally to nearly 34,000
375 more people tested positive for coronavirus in Rajasthan, taking the total number of cases in the state to 33,595 which includes 9,125 active cases. The death toll has climbed to 598 whereas more than 23,000 people have recovered from the infection, reports ANI.
