Municipal Commissioner Astik Kumar said that coronavirus testing in Aurangabad increased six-fold and the nine-day lockdown was used aggressively for detection of cases. The city has registered over 9,000 Covid-19 cases so far. Testing during the lockdown period was ramped up to 5,000 samples per day out of which 250 to 280 people tested positive, Kumar said, reports PTI.

Indonesia reported 1,761 new coronavirus infections on Friday, bringing the tally to 95,418, data from the country's Health Ministry website showed. 89 more deaths took the country's death toll to 4,665, reports Reuters.

1,820 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bihar, taking the total number of cases in the state to 33,511, the state's health department said. Bihar has clocked the lowest testing ratio at 3,423 per million population, while the mortality rate stands at 0.69%.

Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also mentioned that India so far reported 1.25 million cases and more than 30,000 deaths due to Covid-19. The country has one of the lowest cases and deaths per million population. The recovery rate stands at 63.45% whereas mortality is at 2.3%, reports ANI.

Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said, "We have performed over 15 million RTPCR tests so far, and are now performing more than 0.35 million tests per day with a projected quantum of performing 1 million tests per day", reports ANI.

1,209 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Pakistan, taking the total number of cases in the country to 270,400. The Ministry of National Health Services said that 54 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 5,763. A total of 219,783 have recovered from the infection, reports PTI.

Odisha recorded 1,594 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 22,693 which includes 14,393 recoveries and 8,147 active cases. The death toll has now reached 120, reports ANI.

Xinjiang province reported 13 new confirmed domestically transmitted Covid-19 cases on Thursday, Xinhua reported citing the regional health commission. As per the commission, the 13 confirmed patients were all in the capital Urumqi. The region also logged 19 new asymptomatic cases, all in Urumqi, on Thursday, reports ANI.
