On Tuesday and Wednesday, India reported a slight dip in the number of coronavirus cases per day which were at an all time high last week. This gave an indication that the country might witness a downward trend in the coming days. But on Thursday, as per the health ministry, more than 45,000 cases and 1,129 were reported. Today, nearly 50,000 people tested positive for Covid-19 which took the country's tally to 12,87,945. The death toll has now reached 30,601.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka continue to be worst-affected from the pandemic.
Delhi over the past few days has seen a reduction as the number of cases recorded per day are less than 2,000. The national capital's recovery rate which was previously at 36% has now gone up to 84%, which is much higher than the national recovery rate.
