Covid-19 infection cases continue to surge despite many worst-hit nations reporting a decline in new infections. Russia and Brazil are emerging as new hotspots as both nations continue to report more than 10,000 new cases. Globally, more than 38 lakh cases of Covid-19 have been recorded with more than 2.6 lakh deaths. India has reported 52,952 cases of Covid-19 so far.

Germany's coronavirus reproduction rate has gone down to 0.65, Robert Koch Institute officials told Reuters. It means 100 people who contracted Covid-19 can infect 65 more.

External demand sees spike in China, exports up by 3.5%
China registered a export jump amid the coronavirus pandemic. The predictions were that exports would drop, but exports gained while imports saw a steep fall of 14.2% from last year.

150 people belonging to Mizoram returned to their native state without informing state authorities. "A total of 154 people, who returned from four northeastern states, have been quarantined in different districts," home secretary Lalbiaksangi told PTI.
