Covid-19 Highlights: France reports 108 new coronavirus deaths in last 24 hours

The number of novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 173 on Thursday. The pandemic, described as an "unprecedented threat" by the WHO director general Tedros Adhanom, has now affected over 2,00,000 people around the world and caused 8,000 deaths globally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Thursday at 8 PM during which he talked about issues relating to COVID-19 and the efforts to combat it.

In the 30-minutes television address, the Prime Minister started by highlighting the gravity of the situation - that coronavirus disease Covid-19 has affected more people than the two World Wars.

Game of Thrones star Indira Varma tests positive

"Game of Thrones" star Indira Varma has revealed that she has tested positive for coronavirus.

Her diagnosis comes two days after fellow "Game of Thrones" actor Kristofer Hivju also said that he tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

Varma, who played the role of Ellaria Sand in the epic HBO series, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news.

"I’m in bed with it and it’s not nice. Stay safe and healthy and be kind to your fellow people," she wrote.

Two more test positive in Lucknow, UP count rises to 19

Two more patients tested positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday taking the total number of cases in the state to 19, reports HT Correspondent.

While one patient is a youth from Lucknow, the other is a middle-age man from Lakhimpur. “Both were admitted to the KGMU on Wednesday,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson KGMU, where the samples were tested.

Uttar Pradesh count is now 19 including four positive cases in Lucknow, one in Lakhimpur, 8 in Agra, two in Gaziabad, four in Noida.

Both patients who tested positive have travel history. Patient from Lucknow had returned from UK while the other from Turkey.

Chhatisgarh reports first confirmed covid-19 case

A 24-year-old woman has tested positive for coronavirus in Raipur, making her the first confirmed case in Chhattisgarh, officials informed on Thursday.

The woman along with her parents is admitted in an isolation ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur.
