As the novel coronavirus continues to spread around the world, countries are closing their borders, imposing travel restrictions and struggling to keep their economies afloat. The pandemic has infected more than 2,00,000 people and killed more than 8,000, according to Associated Press.
India reported its third casualty from Covid-19 on Tuesday following the death of a 64-year-old patient at Mumbai’s Kasturba hospital. So far, there are 130 active coronavirus cases in the country while 14 patients have been cured of the disease and discharged, taking the total number to 147.
A hundred people have died from the new coronavirus in the United States, according to an AFP count using figures provided by state and county websites and officials.

Trump calls for unified national response to coronavirus threat
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for a unified national response to the coronavirus threat, after coming under fire for downplaying the pandemic and allowing states to go their own way, reports AFP.
Trump's call came as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the White House was presenting a massive economic stimulus plan to Congress and was looking at sending direct payments to all Americans, as well as aid to embattled airlines.
Amazon prioritizes medical supplies, staples for delivery
Amazon has made a priority of medical supplies and household staples, putting shipments of other goods on hold to focus on key items during the coronavirus outbreak.
"We are seeing increased online shopping and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock," the e-commerce titan said on Tuesday.
"We are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies and other high-demand products coming into our fulfilment centres so we can more quickly receive, restock and ship these products to customers," it said.
Darshan only by time slots at Tirupati Balaji temple
The Tirupati Balaji temple administration has started giving time slots for darshan to the devotees to avoid gathering of people amid the increasing number of coronavirus cases in India, reports ANI.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has made elaborate arrangements for screening of the devotees. The pilgrims are being checked at entry points to the hill shrine. Sanitation is being thoroughly taken care of. All public places, roads, buses among others are being sanitized continuously.

Australia orders its citizens not to travel abroad
Australia ordered its citizens on Wednesday to halt all overseas travel in an unprecedented move designed to choke off the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced at a press conference what he called an “indefinite ban” on foreign travel alongside a crackdown on indoor gatherings in Australia of more than 100 people.
