The countries across the world continued to reel under Covid-19 crisis as the World Health Organization reported a one-day high in global infections over the weekend, while Mexico, Indonesia and Iran reported their deadliest day yet.

In the United States, the number of infections has risen to 2,876,143 while the 129,891 others have succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the country is in a state of emergency in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases. Spain ordered a lockdown of a second region amid fears of Covid-19 spread.

While, India surpassed Russia in the infections tally and became the country with most infections after US and Brazil.

The total number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 697,413 after it recorded 24,248 fresh cases of infection on Monday.

There are 14 states in the country which have reported more than 10,000 Covid-19 cases and Maharashtra remained the worst-hit on Sunday.

Karnataka: 24x7 helpline set up for complaints on hospitals denying Covid-19 treatment

The Karnataka government on Monday set up a 24x7 toll-free helpline against hospital refusing to accept coronavirus suspected patients.

"If denied admission, the patient can call 1912. It is a 24x7 helpline number. Whoever calls the number will get immediate relief," Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar told reporters.

US: 52,228 cases takes Covid-19 tally to 2,841,906

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday reported 2,841,906 cases of new coronavirus, an increase of 52,228 cases from its previous count, and said the number of deaths had risen by 271 to 129,576.
