Highlights: United States Covid-19 death toll crosses 130,000

A 71-year-old Covid-19 patient has gone missing from the newly-commissioned Global Hub Corona Hospital in Thane city, police said on Monday.

A Kapurbawdi police station official said a missing person complaint has been filed and teams were out to trace the elderly patient.

A 55-year-old coronavirus positive man on Monday allegedly died by suicide in an educational institute hostel being used as a COVID care centre in Pune, police said.

Karnataka government revised the quarantine norms on Monday in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases. Under the revised guidelines, people coming from other states to Karnataka, including Maharashtra, shall be placed in 14-days home quarantine.

"Country will have to learn to live with coronavirus as there are no options", Karnataka chief minister said on Monday.

"We don't have any other option, we have to learn to live with this virus. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the same thing. We have increased ambulances, we have made all arrangements to fight the pandemic. It is very important to safeguard ourselves," he said.

As many as 114 Indian nationals stranded in Pakistan due to Covid-19 to be repatriated to India via Attari-Wagah border on July 9, according to a Pakistan government release.

Russia's official coronavirus case tally, the fourth largest in the world, rose to 687,862 on Monday after officials reported 6,611 new infections in the last 24 hours.

Authorities also said 135 people had died overnight, bringing Russia's official death toll to 10,296.

Covid-19 cases crossed 1 lakh mark in Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday, adding, "there is no need to panic as around 72,000 people have also recovered."

Covid-19 tests in India crossed the 1 crore (10 million) mark, said Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) officia.

As of 11am today, 1,00,04,101 tests were conducted in the country, said the official.

Pakistan's coronavirus cases on Monday crossed the 231,000-mark after 3,344 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours, while 50 people died of the deadly disease, taking the death toll to 4,762, the health ministry said on Monday.

According to the Ministry of national health services, the number of confirmed cases reached 231,818 after 3,344 new infections surfaced in the country, but 131,649 patients have also fully recovered from the Covid-19.

The Karnataka government on Monday set up a 24x7 toll-free helpline against hospital refusing to accept coronavirus suspected patients.

"If denied admission, the patient can call 1912. It is a 24x7 helpline number. Whoever calls the number will get immediate relief," Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar told reporters.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday reported 2,841,906 cases of new coronavirus, an increase of 52,228 cases from its previous count, and said the number of deaths had risen by 271 to 129,576.
