India on Sunday reported 54,735 cases, taking the country's Covid-19 tally to over 1.75 million and the death toll to 37,364. The country’s recovery rate stands at 65.44% as per the health ministry's dashboard. The ministry pointed out that India’s fatality rate which is at 2.13% at present, has been the lowest since the first lockdown which was imposed on March 24.
Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu which were once seeing an upward trend in the infection tally have now seen a reduction in the number of cases registered per day.
States such as Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh are emerging as the new coronavirus hotspots in India.

Rajasthan’s Covid-19 tally nearing 44,000; death toll at 703
510 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Rajasthan, taking the total number of cases in the state to 43,804 out of which 12,391 cases are active. The death toll stands at 703 whereas 30,710 people have been discharged so far, reports ANI.

UP cabinet minister Kamal Rani dies of Coronavirus
Kamal Rani, minister of technical education in the state of Uttar Pradesh who was admitted in Rajdhani Covid hospital on July 18 for treatment of Covid 19 passed away on Sunday morning.

The United States counted 61,262 new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 pm Saturday (0030 GMT Sunday), according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. It was the fifth consecutive day with more than 60,000 infections recorded, according to the Baltimore-based university, reports AFP.
