Highlights: Chandigarh's Covid-19 toll rises to 19, tally mounts to 1,117

The Goa government on Sunday said that plasma therapy treatment for critical patients of Covid-19 has begun in the state.

State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane made this announcement on Twitter.

"As committed to the people of Goa, we have started Plasma Therapy in the state for treatment of critical Covid-19 patients. Happy to announce that two patients have been successfully administered with Plasma under the compassionate use of Convalescent Plasma against #Covid-19," he said.

Eighteen more people including a doctor tested positive for Covid-19 in Meghalaya on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 874, officials said.

A doctor at the Covid ward of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) tested positive for coronavirus, the officials said.

Kerala on Sunday crossed 25,000 Covid-19 cases with another day of 1,000 plus infections while Andhra Pradesh saw a dip in its numbers and Tamil Nadu and Karnataka sustained their 5,000 plus aggregates.

Against the 9,276 cases on Saturday after three days of 10,000 odd infections, AP's numbers further slid to 8,555, taking the overall tally to 1.58 lakh.

Goa recorded 337 Covid-19 cases today, taking total cases to 6,530 including 4,668 recoveries and 53 deaths. There are 1,809 active cases in Goa.

A total of 5,532 new cases of Covid-19 and 84 deaths were reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, the state's health department informed on Sunday.

With this, the Karnataka's Covid-19 tally now stands at 1,34,819 positive cases, including 74,590 active cases and 57,725 discharges.

Surat in Gujarat reported237 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, which pushed the overall tally of the district to 14,162, the state health department said.

With the death of 12 patients, the highest for any district in the state on Sunday, the district's toll reached 621.

The toll due to Covid-19 in Chandigarh rose to 19 on Sunday as one more person succumbed to the disease, while the union territory's case count climbed to 1,117 with 38 fresh infections, a medical bulletin said.

Haryana reported 761 new coronavirus cases and 5 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking 36,519 cases including 29,690 discharges and 433 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 6,396.

1,105 Covid-19 cases, 393 recovered and 49 deaths reported in Mumbai today. Total number of cases in the city is now at 1,16,451, including 88,299 recovered, 21,412 active patients and 6,444 deaths.

Bihar health department doctors and workers to be provided 'encouragement incentive' equivalent to their one month's basic salary. It will cost the state ₹252.54 crores, reports ANI quoting Bihar government.

Another 8,555 fresh Covid-19 cases added taking Andhra Pradesh's tally to 1,58,764. Toll rises to 1,474 with 67 new casualties while 6,272 more patients recover.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit tests positive for Covid-19, advised home isolation, news agency PTI said quoting hospital buelltin.

A two-day-old baby has died due to Covid-19 in Tripura, becoming the state's youngest coronavirus fatality, a Health Department official said on Sunday.

The baby was born on Thursday at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and her swab sample was collected as her mother was a coronavirus patient.
