India’s Covid-19 tally on Tuesday neared 2.27 million after more than 53,601 cases and 571 deaths were registered. The total number of recoveries in the country crossed 1.5 million, a record high which the health ministry attributes to its strategy of aggressive testing, tracking the treating those infected with the virus. As per government data, more than 10 states are responsible for at least 80% of the new infections in the country.
Delhi’s Covid-19 recovery rate crossed 90 per cent after more than 130k people recovered from the infection. The national capital has been witnessing a downward in the number of cases being registered on a daily basis. A three member central team which is in Hyderabad to review the management of coronavirus in Telanagana, asked the state government to ramp up testing and presented the 'Delhi model' as an example to curb the spread of Covid-19. Telanagana has been witnessing a spike in the number of positive cases in the last few days.

With President Donald Trump advocating re-opening of schools in US, the surfacing of packed school hallways in Georgia and news of positive tests on the first day of classes in Indiana and Mississippi has sparked discussions over the risk of coronavirus infections on children, The Washington Post reported. Citing a report by leading pediatric health groups, it was stated that more than 97,000 US children had tested positive for the Covid-19 in the last two weeks of July, reports ANI.

New Zealand reported one new case of Covid-19 on Tuesday, with the number of active cases in the country at 22, all in managed isolation or quarantine facilities, according to the country's health ministry. It has been 102 days since the last case of Covid-19 was acquired locally from an unknown source, according to the ministry, reports ANI.

Office for National Statistics said that the number of people in employment in Britain fell by 220,000 in the three months to June, the most since 2009, as the coronavirus crisis hit the labour market, reports Reuters.

1,341 new Covid-19 infections in Odisha have pushed the state's tally to 48,876 which includes 15,427 actives cases & 33,020 recoveries till date, Information & Public Relations Dept, govt of Odisha said, reports ANI.

Victoria reported only a small rise in new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, boosting hopes that case numbers are stabilising after a second wave forced authorities to put the city of Melbourne back into lockdown. Victoria, which currently accounts for nearly all of Australia's new Covid-19 cases, detected 331 cases and 19 deaths in the past 24 hours, up from 322 infections and the same number of deaths a day earlier, health officials said, reports Reuters.
