WHO welcomes India's decision to approve emergency use authorization for vaccines

The one day nationwide dry run for coronavirus vaccination was conducted on Saturday after the exercise was carried out in four states - Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab-on December 28 and 29. The government gave its approval for emergency use authorization to Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine which will be manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

India reported 18,177 new coronavirus infections, taking the country's tally to 1,03,23,965 including 2,47,220 active cases. The death toll after 217 new fatalities stands at 1,49,435. 20,923 new recoveries pushed the total number of recoveries to 99,27,310.

US records more than 350,000 Covid-19 deaths
The United States surpassed 350,000 Covid-19 deaths on Sunday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, as vaccinations against the virus have begun at a slow pace, reports ANI.
