India recorded 24,712 new coronavirus infections on Thursday which took the country's overall caseload to 10,123,778. The death toll rose to 1,46,756 after 312 fatalities while the total number of recoveries rose to 96,93,173.
The UK reported the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus on Wednesday which was reported to be even more transmissible than the recently discovered B117 strain. It was found in two patients who had been in contact with people who have traveled from South Africa over the past few weeks.

The discovery of the B117 strain had forced several countries across the globe to suspend air travel from the UK while PM Boris Johnson had announced strict lockdown measures across London and southern England.
