India recorded 24,712 new coronavirus infections on Thursday which took the country's overall caseload to 10,123,778. The death toll rose to 1,46,756 after 312 fatalities while the total number of recoveries rose to 96,93,173.
The UK reported the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus on Wednesday which was reported to be even more transmissible than the recently discovered B117 strain. It was found in two patients who had been in contact with people who have traveled from South Africa over the past few weeks.

The discovery of the B117 strain had forced several countries across the globe to suspend air travel from the UK while PM Boris Johnson had announced strict lockdown measures across London and southern England.

Coronavirus vaccine priority list ready: TN govt
The Tamil Nadu government has said that it has prepared the priority list of those who would be first to receive the coronavirus vaccine. 21,000 personnel were being trained and 46,000 centres were identified in the state for the rollout.
1.02 crore doses in first phase: Kejriwal
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the each frontline worker would be given two doses, and therefore 1.02 crore doses would be required in the first phase of vaccination. He also said that the govt currently has the capacity to store 74 lakh doses but that would be increased to 1.15 crore within a week.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government was prepared to receive, store and provide vaccines to the priority category persons in the city. He stated that there were 51 lakh people including healthcare & frontline workers who would get vaccine in the first phase.
AIIMS asks for volunteers for Phase-3 clinical trial of Covaxin
The All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has put up an advertisement asking volunteers to enroll for Phase-3 clinical trial of indigenously developed coronavirus vaccine, Covaxin. The last date of enrollment is December 31, 2020.
