After registering a dip in the daily cases logged on Tuesday, India's daily Covid-19 tally on Wednesday shot up again as 80,742 new cases and 1,179 related deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry's dashboard. The country's tally has climbed to over 6.2 million which includes 940,441 active cases, nearly 5.2 million recoveries and 97,497 deaths.
The Union home ministry on Wednesday issued guidelines for re-opening of economic activities in the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Cinema halls, multiplexes will be allowed to open from October 15 while for re-opening of schools and coaching institutions, state/ UTs have been given the flexibility to take a decision after October 15.

Meanwhile, Oxford University on Wednesday said that it would study whether the world’s best-selling prescription medicine, adalimumab, was an effective treatment for those infected with Covid-19 adding that 750 patients from community care settings across UK will be enrolled.

BMC orders 72,000 Remdisevir injections
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Wednesday that it has ordered 72,000 vials of the Remdisevir injection for the treatment of critical Covid-19 patients, reports PTI.

Suspension on commercial international passenger flights extended till Oct 31
In view of the Covid-19 outbreak in India, the DGCA has said that the suspension on commercial international passenger flights has been extended till October 31. However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on case to case basis, it added.

Mumbai: Eight additional trains on central line from October 1
To reduce overcrowding on special suburban train services in the city, the Central Railway (CR) would introduce eight additional services including two ladies special trains from October 1, it said on Wednesday. It will take the numbers of services to 431 from the existing 423, said Shivaji Sutar, chief public relations officer of the CR, reports PTI.

Home ministry to announce Unlock 5 guidelines shortly
The Centre on Wednesday will release guidelines for Unlock 5 under which further relaxations will be issued for movement, conduction of commercial/business activities with an aim to revive the Indian economy amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The previous unlock phase, called Unlock 4- had eased several restrictions which were imposed during the first three phases to limit the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
Delhi reports 3,390 fresh Covid-19 cases, 41 related deaths
The national capital reported 41 Covid-19 fatalities on Wednesday, taking the toll to 5,361, while 3,390 fresh cases pushed the tally to over 279,000, authorities said. The fresh cases reported on Wednesday came out of the 59,807 tests conducted the previous day, reports PTI.
Andhra Pradesh's Covid-19 tally nearing 494,000, death toll at 5,828
Andhra Pradesh recorded 6,133 new Covid-19 cases, 7,075 recoveries and 49 deaths which pushed the state's tally to 693,484. With this, the active cases have climbed to 58,445, reports ANI.

Kerala logs 8,830 new Covid-19 cases; active cases cross 67,000
Kerala added 8,830 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total number of active cases to 67,061. Over 128,000 have recovered from the infection so far, the state government said, reports ANI.

Mizoram's Covid-19 tally climbs to 1,986; 22 fresh recoveries recorded
As many as 22 people recovered from Covid-19 in Mizoram which pushed the total recoveries to 1,598. The state's tally stands at 1,986 which includes 388 active cases and no deaths have been reported so far, reports ANI.
