After recovering from the first wave of coronavirus, the world is setting to return to lockdowns as the number of global cases has crossed 44 million. Germany is looking forward to partial shutdown of bars and restaurants, France may enter into a fresh month-long lockdown.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases in New Delhi breached the 5,000-mark yesterday, with the national capital recording 5,673 cases in 24 hours. As per the union health ministry, the country is reporting a steady decline in active coronavirus infections but a spurt of cases is seen in Delhi, West Bengal, Karnataka, TAndhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
India recorded 49,881 cases on Wednesday with 517 deaths. The total cases include 603,687 active cases, 7,315,989 recoveries and 120,527 deaths.
Currently total active cases in the country constitute to 7.65%.
1,790 new Covid-19 cases in Rajasthan, 11 more die
Rajasthan recorded 11 more deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday, raising the toll to 1,888, while 1,790 fresh cases brought the infection count to 1,93,419 in the state, according to a health department bulletin.
The state has 15,554 active cases of the novel coronavirus.
Jharkhand reports 395 new Covid-19 cases in a day
Jharkhand reported 395 new Covid-19 cases, 461 recoveries and 3 deaths today. Total number of cases now stands at 100,964 including 94,787 recoveries, 883 deaths and 5,294 active cases, informs state health department.
Delhi records highest single say spike in Covid-19 infection
Delhi recorded 5,739 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday in a highest single day spike. The number of fresh fatalities was at 27, which pushed the death toll to 6,423.
India conducts more than 10.65 crores tests for Covid-19
The cumulative number of Covid-19 tests conducted in India, crossed 10.65 crores on Thursday. In the last 24 hours, the country conducted as many as as 10,75,760 tests for Covid-19, said government of India.
Nearly 11 lakh tests have been conducted daily on an average during the past six weeks, it also said.

All educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh to reopen from November 2 in three phases.
State chief secretary Neelam Sawhney issued orders to this effect. She said all the schools from Class 1 to Class 12, besides undergraduate and post-graduate colleges would be opened with all precautionary measures in place in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday vouched for Covid-19 vaccine, Sputnik-V, developed by the country. Russian Covid-19 vaccines are efficient, said Putin.
He also said that Russia hoped to start mass vaccinations by the end of the year.

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday extended the ongoing lockdown by another month as infections continue to rise in the state. It will now remain in effect till November 30.
