Highlights: Maharashtra reports 4,153 new Covid-19 cases

Delhi on Monday reported 4,454 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the national capital's case tally to 5,34,317. A total number of 121 new deaths were reported due to coronavirus in Delhi in last 24 hours.

With 454 new cases reported today, the state's Covid-19 case tally rises to 34,781 including 6,680 active cases, 27,518 recovered cases and 550 deaths: Health Department, Himachal Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh reports 2,067 new Covid-19 cases, 2,060 discharges & 23 deaths in the last 24 hours, says State Health Department. Total Positive Cases till date: 5,28,833. Active cases till date: 23,776. Total discharges: 4,97,475. Death toll: 7,582

Maharashtra reported 4,153 new Covid-19 cases, 3,729 recoveries & 30 deaths today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 17,84,361 till date. There are 81,902 active cases in the state and 16,54,793 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 46,653.

Chandigarh today reported 98 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total positive cases to 16,769, says Health Department, UT-Chandigarh. A total of 15,389 patients recovered from the infection till date, death toll at 263. Active cases stand at 1,117.

1,487 new Covid-19 cases, 1,234 discharges/recoveries, and 17 deaths reported in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, according to the State Health Department

Karnataka reports 1,509 new Covid-19 cases, 1,645 discharges and 24 deaths today. Total cases in the state rise to 8,74,555, including 8,38,150 discharges and 11,678 deaths. Active cases stand at 24,708.

-- The passengers travelling in flights from Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa and Gujarat will have to produce negative RTPCR report on landing at airports in Maharashtra. The rest should have done 72 hours prior to the scheduled journey.

-- The passengers travelling in trains from these four states will have to produce the negative report obtained 96 hours prior to journey on arrival.

-- People travelling by roads to Maharashtra will have to undergo screening at the check posts borders. The people with symptoms will have to undergo antigen test. If found positive, the traveller will have get admitted to Covid centre by bearing the cost of treatment.

"We will expand the operational capacity of beds from 2,000 to 3,000, for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in Delhi-NCR. These added beds will also include oxygen supply facility," said SS Deswal, DG, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Covid Care Centre at Chhatarpur, as quoted by ANI.

"There are nearly 550 patients admitted & patients admitted here are those who can't afford private & high-end hospitals. There is enough supply of oxygen and there are sufficient doctors, nurses & pharmacists to cater to 3,000 patients at the Centre," he added.

The total number of confirmed cases in Switzerland and neighbouring principality Liechtenstein increased to 300,352 and the death toll rose by 213 to 3,788, while 410 new hospitalisations kept pressure on the health care system, according to a report in Reuters.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributes masks in Bhopal to spread awareness about Covid-19. The chief minister also asked the people to wear face masks as a protection against the coronavirus.
