Highlights: Florida records more than 12,600 new Covid-19 cases

The UK has reported 148 new coronavirus disease-related deaths over the preceding 24 hours, ANI reported.

This latest rise sees the UK's Covid-19 death toll rise to 44,798.

On Friday, just 48 new deaths were confirmed by public health officials.

Florida recorded more than 12,600 new coronavirus cases on Monday, its second-highest daily total since the outbreak began.

Walt Disney Co. is temporarily closing its Hong Kong Disneyland theme park from July 15 amid rising coronavirus cases in the Chinese-ruled city, the company said Monday.

In Mumbai, total cases rose to 94,146 after 1,158 people confirmed to be infected with Covid-19.

Kerala continued to witness a big surge in daily Covid-19 infections with 449 cases being reported on Monday, pushing the count to 8,322, while the death toll has reached 33 with two more fatalities.

As many as 77 jawans of the Indo Tibetan Border Force and five health workers are among the infected, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.

India's recovery rate for Covid-19 further improved to 63.02% on Monday after 18,850 people recovered from the viral disease in the last 24 hours, the government said. The total cumulative number of recovered patients has risen to 5,53,470.

In Andhra Pradesh, 1,935 people contracted Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of infection now stands at 31,103. While 37 people lost their lives pushing the death toll to 365.

A deputy magistrate in West Bengal died due to Covid-19 on Monday, the first senior government officer to have succumbed to the infection in the state, a health department official said.

Debdutta Ray, who was posted in Hooghly district, died at a private hospital in Serampore.
