Countries around the world raced to develop a vaccine for coronavirus (Covid-19) as the pandemic continues to rage. Worldwide there are 22,295,983 million coronavirus cases and 783,491 confirmed deaths, according to worldometer. India recorded 64,531 new Covid-19 cases and 1,092 deaths in last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry data. Maharashtra on Wednesday registered its highest ever single-day spike of 13,165 Covid-19 cases. The state's tally has now reached 628,642. 346 fresh deaths have taken the toll to over 21,000.

Meanwhile, Argentina confirmed 6,840 new cases of coronavirus and 172 new deaths, taking it simultaneously over the 300,000 case and 6,000 death threshold as the Latin nation battles a surge of contagions in recent weeks.

The number of global virus cases topped 22 million, with the US, Brazil and India accounting for more than half the total. Japanese exports plunged for a fifth month as the pandemic weighed on trade. One in five workers in Brazil’s meat plants have been infected.
