Coronavirus cases continue to rise in India as the nation reported more than 10,000 cases on Friday for the first time. Delhi and Maharashtra have decided not to extend lockdown requesting citizens to maintain social distancing and other precautions. India has become fourth in terms of infections crossing the UK with more than 3 lakh cases.

Coronavirus continues to hit North, Central and South America. The US and Brazil are now among the most-affected by the pandemic. Mexico continues to record new daily spikes. Gradual reopening of the American cities has led to new spikes across several states.

As virus cases surge, Tamil Nadu govt appoints 2,000 more nurses for

Amid the surging Covid-19 cases, Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar on Saturday said 2,000 more nurses have been appointed to cater to requirements in state-run hospitals in Chennai and nearby districts of Kancheepuram, Tiruvallurand Chengelpet.

Also, he said as many as 81 rapid response mobile medical teams have been deployed in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengelpet and Kanchpeepuram districts today in addition to the 173 mobile health teams already on job in the Greater Chennai Corporation areas.
