The Covid-19 outbreak continues to be in the grim condition as it raged across the world. The United States remained the worst affected country as it recorded at least 62,500 new Covid-19 cases on Friday in a record daily increase for the third consecutive day.
Brazil registered 45,048 additional cases of the novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours taking its tally to 1,800,827. While in Japan, the threat of second wave of Covid-19 loomed as Tokyo detected 243 new cases of the coronavirus, surpassing 200 for a second day in a row and setting a new record.
While countries continue to brave the unprecedented virus outbreak, World Health Organisation headed for China to organise an investigation into the origins of Covid-19.

Maharashtra records highest single-day spike of 8,139 cases
In the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases till date, Maharashtra reported 8,139 new infections on Saturday, taking its total count to 2,46,600. The state also recorded 223 deaths today, taking the toll to 10,116 .
4360 people were reported to have recovered on Saturday. With this, the total number of people who have recovered now stand at 1,36,985 while the total number of those tested is 12,85,991

The number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered in the country crossed the five-lakh mark on Saturday, the Union Health ministry said and attributed it to a number of measures taken by the Centre and the state governments, including implementation of containment zones and surveillance activities.
India's Covid-19 tally surged to 8,20,916 on Saturday while the death toll climbed to 22,123 with 519 people succumbing to the disease in 24 hours, according to the health ministry's data updated at 8 am.

Special vigilance needed in Kanpur Nagar, Jhansi, Mathura: UP CM
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said special vigilance has to be maintained in the districts of Kanpur Nagar, Jhansi, and Mathura in view of the Covid-19 outbreak, reports PTI.
The chief minister was chairing a meeting with senior officials of the state government at his residence.To curb the spread of the infection, proper screening facilities should be ensured for train and flight passengers, he said.
