US Election 2020: VP Debate between Kamala Harris, Mike Pence ends

Issues such as Covid-19, taxes, economy, jobs, and foreign relations were discussed in great depth at the Vice Presidential Debate between Kamla Harris and Mike Pence which lasted for 90 minutes.

The Vice Presidential Debate, held at the Utah's Salt City Lake witnessed a civilised and factual discussion between Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence.

Unlike the Presidential Debate- which was a chaotic exchange of views between President Donald Trump and Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden, Wednesday night’s VP debate saw both Harris and Pence putting forth their opinion on several topics, listening to each other and obeying the instructions of moderator Susan Page.

The debate started with United States’ response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Harris called the Trump Administration’s handling of the pandemic as the greatest failure in American history. While Pence said that from the very first day, President Donald Trump has put the health of America first adding that a Covid-19 vaccine will be available by 2020. Issues such as taxes, economy, jobs, and foreign relations were discussed in great depth.

The topic of racial killings which has been doing the rounds across the American media, Senator Harris spoke about George Floyd’s death and said that American citizens irrespective of age, race and gender marched shoulder to shoulder towards achieving the objective of equal justice under law. She pointed out at there is a need to reform policing and the criminal justice system in the country. On the other hand, Pence condemned the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd adding that justice will be served.

The debate ended with Harris and Pence highlighting the importance of an election and said that all Americans stand and should stand together towards democracy.
