Telangana's ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has fielded candidates in all wards in the urban body elections. Main opposition Congress and BJP are also contesting the polls in majority of the wards. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has fielded candidates in 276 wards.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) swept the municipal elections, capturing power in over 100 out of 120 municipalities and seven out of nine municipal corporations. Counting of votes for 120 municipalities and nine municipal corporations in Telangana began at 8am on Saturday morning. Voting for these local body elections was held on January 22. The overall voting percentage was 70.26.
There were sporadic incidents of clashes in parts of Telangana during the elections.
Elections are not being held in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and 10 other urban local bodies as their tenure is not yet over.
The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has fielded candidates in all municipal wards. It faces rebel problem in some places. Main opposition Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are also contesting the polls in majority of the wards. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has fielded candidates in 276 wards.
