PM Modi in Saudi Arabia
Prime minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, held a bilateral meeting with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at 5.30 pm.
He is going to deliver his keynote address at Future Investment Initiative (FII), followed by a meeting and a dinner hosted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In an interview with Arab News, PM Modi said that both the sides had “identified a number of areas of mutual interest and cooperation in the field of defence and security”.
MoU for joint venture between India, Saudi for setting up refinery outlets in Saudi expected
The two countries are expected to finalise modalities for India’s single largest greenfield refinery to be built at Raigarh in Maharashtra with investments by Aramco of Saudi Arabia and Adnoc of the UAE. They expect to sign a MoU for a joint venture between Indian Oil Middle East and Al Jeri company for downstream cooperation in setting up retail outlets in Saudi Arabia.

"Three Saudi Ministers called on PM today. Issues related to bilateral trade and investment, energy sector cooperation including strategic petroleum reserves and West Coast refinery, innovative technologies, skill development, agriculture and water-related cooperation were discussed," said foreign secretary.

In an interview with Arab News, PM Modi said, “I believe that Asian powers like India and Saudi Arabia share similar security concerns in their neighbourhood. In that respect, I am happy that our cooperation, particularly in the field of counter-terrorism, security and strategic issues, is progressing very well. My national security adviser just visited Riyadh for a very productive visit.”
