Prime Minister will address a special discussion in Rajya Sabha

The parliament's winter session began with back-to-back adjournment notices issued by the Congress, Shiv Sena and the TMC. Opposition parties raised slogans against the Centre and demanded that NC leader Farooq Abdullah be released from detention. The Congress accused the Centre of internationalising the Kashmir issue by inviting MPs from the EU.

On the eve of Rajya Sabha's landmark 250th session, ‎Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday met leaders of all political parties and highlighted the contribution of the upper house in the socio-economic transformation of the country but said it still has "miles to go".

Referring to the highly productive last session, the best in several years, Naidu urged the leaders to ensure that this positive momentum is sustained during the nearly month-long session. He said that the Upper House has extensively contributed to the growth of the nation.
