Issue of H1B visa holders spouses ability to work in the US raised in RS
Rajya Sabha on Thursday discussed the issue of air pollution plaguing Delhi and surrounding states at length with several political party representatives taking potshots at each other for inaction.
In the Upper House, Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Jitendra Singh laid key papers on the table of the house.
When the issue of air pollution in Delhi-NCR was raised in the house on Thursday, RJD MP Manoj K Jha and senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh sought attention of the minister of environment, forest and climate change Prakash Javadekar to the situation arising out of dangerous levels of air pollution in the national capital and across the nation.
Minister of Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan shall move that The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 be passed.

₹577-crore challans issued so far since rollout of new Motor Vehicles Act: Gadkari
As many as 38 lakh challans involving a total amount of ₹577.5 crore have been issued since the implementation of the new motor vehicles law, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday.
However, in a reply to the Lok Sabha, Gadkari said the "challans are being referred to courts. Actual revenue is not available".
Govt to refer surrogacy bill to Rajya Sabha Select Committee
With many Rajya Sabha members across party lines suggesting changes in certain provisions of the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019, the government on Thursday agreed to refer the draft legislation to a house Select Committee.
The Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019, mandates that only a close relative can be a surrogate mother and intending couples should be married for five years.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh defends CM Kejriwal's moves to control pollution in Delhi
AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Thursday batted for his party's supremo for tending to Delhi's environment needs. "If you can reduce pollution in Delhi by abusing Kejriwal, I ask you to do it day and night," Singh said. "If you will fight with pollution in Delhi, you can never do justice to kids in Delhi. Change your mindset," he said.

Kumari Selja of Congress says that pollution is increasing in north India and its severity is increasing every year. She says, "one of the reasons is stubble burning but the farmers have been made villains for this. They do it because they do not have the technology, farmers have no option but to burn stubble. They are debt-ridden and have no other choice. I want to say on behalf of Haryana farmers that they should not be blamed for stubble burning but given technology and cash incentive not to do so.

Centre has notified a graded response action plan for Delhi NCR for different levels of pollution, says Javadekar.
'High level task force formed to tackle pollution': Javadekar
Javadekar says, "In order to abate and control air pollution in Delhi NCR, we have undertaken several initiatives. A high level task force was constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal Secy to the PM. Regular review meetings have been held."

Hema Malini raises issue of menace of monkeys in Mathura
BJP's Lok Sabha member Hema Malini raised the issue of the menace of monkeys in her parliamentary constituency Mathura. She said that due to forests being cut and simians being fed by pilgrims, the monkeys are turning violent and attacking the citizens and pilgrims. She requested the Centre to tackle the issue and create a separate place to keep the monkeys.

Issue of H1B visa holders spouses ability to work in the US raised in RS
On the issue of H1B visa holders' spouses ability to work in the US, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said in the Rajya Sabha that the ability of spouses to work in the US was introduced in 2015. This category of visa is covered in H4 visa.Indians today account for 93% of total number of visas issued in this category. He added that there is a court order to the effect to continue the program. Trump (US President) Administration has indicated that it may review it sometime.
