The Rajya Sabha on Sunday took up the agriculture-related bills, two of which have been passed in the Lok Sabha, amid farmer protests and walk-outs by opposition parties.
Narendra Singh Tomar, Union minister of agriculture and farmer welfare, moved the Farmers' and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, in teh Rajya Sabha.
In the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, 11 out of 20 bills have been cleared by the Lok Sabha and 5 have been approved by both Houses. Now, amidst the push to cut short the session, more bills might be cleared without long debates.
