The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi won the floor test in Maharashtra assembly on Saturday.
Governor BS Koshyari has asked Thackeray to prove majority by December 3.
NCP leader Dilip Walse Patil, who was appointed pro-tem speaker on Friday replacing Kalidas Kolambkar of the BJP, will conduct the floor test which will be held through a head count.
Thackeray was sworn-in as the chief minister on Thursday evening along with six other ministers - two each from the Sena, the Congress and the NCP. The MVA is an alliance of the Shiv Sena, NCP and the Congress.

Nana Patole files nomination for Speaker's post
Nana Patole of Congress files his nomination as the Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate for the post of Assembly Speaker.
He thanked party president Sonia Gandhi, NCP's Sharad Pawar and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for his nomination. "I am thankful to Sonia Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar for nominating me to post of speaker. The tradition Maharashtra legislature follows will be upheld. As speaker, I will work to ensure people of Maharashtra get justice in the assembly," Patole said.

BJP protests against changing pro-tem speaker
The BJP has protested against the Dilip Walse Patil being named pro-tem speaker by the Maha Vikas Aghadi. BJP's state unit chief Chandrakant Patil said, "They( MahaVikasAghadi) changed Pro-tem speaker from Kalidas Kolambkar to Dilip Walse Patil, this is legally wrong. The oath was also not taken as per rules; the new government is violating all rules. We are filing petition with Governor, and might also approach the Supreme Court."
NCP to issue whip to its MLAs for floor test
NCP legislative party leader Jayant Patil will issue a whip at 12 noon, directing all the legislators to support the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. The floor test will be held at 2 pm today.
