With 30,005 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the total cases in India crossed 98-lakh mark and has now reached 98,26,775, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's (MoHFW) data on Saturday. After 442 new deaths related to the virus reported in the single day, the cumulative toll mounted to 1,42,628. The country reported more discharges than new cases in the last 24 hours bringing down the active cases tally to 3,59,819, which is the lowest after nearly 145 days. The total active cases were 3,58,692 on July 18. The total discharged cases now reached 93,24,328 with 33,494 new discharges in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra has 74,408 active coronavirus cases, followed by Kerala with 59,528 cases.

Meanwhile, in the US New York nurse Sandra Lindsay became the first person in to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech shot in the arm, live on television. US currently has 16 million active cases, making it the worst hit country in the world.

The national capital recorded 1,617 new infections, taking the overall tally to 6,10,447 including 14,480 active cases. The death toll stood at 10,115 after 41 new fatalities while 2343 recoveries took the total number of recoveries to 5,85,852.

Kerala reported 5,218 new coronavirus infections, 33 deaths and 5,066 recoveries. Total number of recoveries in the state stands at 6,16,666 while the number of active cases is 57,757.

Uttarakhand reports 496 new cases, 11 deaths
Uttarakhand reported 496 new coronavirus cases taking the state's tally to 83,502 including 6,089 active cases. Death toll stands at 1,372 after 11 new fatalities and 524 recoveries meant total number of recoveries was 75,049.
Rajasthan reports 1,045 new cases, 13 deaths
Rajasthan reported 1,045 new coronavirus infections taking the state's tally to 2,93,584 including 15,510 active cases. 1,722 recoveries meant that the total number of recoveries stood at 2,75,506. Death toll after 13 new fatalities rose to 2,568.
Karnataka records 1,185 new cases, 11 deaths
Karnataka reported 1,185 fresh coronavirus infections taking the state's tally to 9,03,425 including 15,645 active cases. 1594 discharges meant that total discharges stood at 8,75,796 while 11 new fatalities took the death toll to 11,965.
Andhra Pradesh reports 500 new cases, five deaths
Andhra Pradesh reported 500 new coronavirus infections taking the state's tally to 8,76,336 including 4660 active cases. 563 recoveries took the number of total recoveries to 8,64,612 and the death toll stands at 7064 after five new fatalities.
Six vaccines undergoing clinical trials currently
NITI Aayog Health member Dr VK Paul said that currently there are six vaccines that are undergoing clinical trials in the country.
Genoa vaccine maintainable in normal cold chain conditions
The Union Health Ministry said that the Indian made Genoa vaccine was maintainable under normal cold chain conditions like a normal fridge unlike the Pfizer vaccine.
Indian made vaccine granted clinical trial clearance
NITI Aayog Health member DR VK Paul said that the Drugs Controller General of India granted clearance for clinical trials this week for an Indian vaccine candidate produced by Genoa company with the help of the Central government.

Uttar Pradesh reported 1,336 new coronavirus infections, taking the state's tally to 5,68,064. Death toll currently stands at 8,103 after 20 new fatalities.
Adverse events following immunisation is critical issue: Ministry
The Union Health Ministry said that adverse effects as a result of the Covid vaccination drive was a critical issue and might have an impact on pregnant women and children and asked states and union territories to prepare for the same.
