The overall tally of Coronavirus cases in India currently stands at 9,309,787. The country had recorded 43,082 fresh Covid-19 cases and 492 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the official data of Union Health Ministry. The preparation for Covid-19 vaccine is in full swing. Russia has agreed to make 100 million doses of its Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V in collaboration with the Indian pharmaceutical company Hetero in India. Phase-3 trial of Covaxin — the indigenous vaccine being developed by Bharat Biotech — began in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-city tour to review the status of vaccine development in India. After Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, he is slated to visit Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India facilities in Pune.

The Philippines has secured over 2.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca. The UK has moved to get approval for the AstraZeneca vaccine before the EU to boost up the vaccine supply. Ireland is planning to ease the restrictions imposed to control Covid-19 ahead of Christmas.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Saturday night said that all govt offices with Grade 1 officers shall function with 100% strength adding the remaining staff will attend up to 50% as per requirement till 31st Dec or till further order. Meanwhile, private offices are advised to stagger timings and presence of staff.

401 fresh cases push Nagpur's Covid-19 tally to 111,190

Nagpur on Saturday registered 401 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths which pushed the overall tally and death toll to 111,190 and 3,645 respectively. A total of 331 people were discharged during the day and the total recoveries have climbed to over 102,000.

Delhi logs nearly 5,000 fresh Covid-19 cases, 89 deaths

The national capital's Covid-19 tally on Saturday climbed to over 261,000 after 4,998 fresh cases and 89 more related deaths were registered. The positivity rate further dropped to 7.24 per cent- which has been the lowest since October a record 69,051 tests were conducted on Saturday.

Myanmar Extends Covid-19 Restrictions For 2 Weeks Until December 15

Myanmar announced a 15-day extension of coronavirus containment measures until December 15, according to the Central Committee on Covid-19 Control. People living in 74 townships under lockdown must continue to stay at home, except for work and health reasons. The existing measures were due to expire on Nov. 30. Travel between provinces also remains prohibited.

Ahmedabad district adds 357 new Covid-19 cases; 10 deaths

Ahmedabad district in Gujarat on Saturday reported 357 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the count of infections to 49,420, state health department said. With ten more patients succumbing to the infection, the total toll in the district rose to 2,036, it said.

550 new Covid-19 cases in Odisha

Odisha saw 550 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours taking the total count to 3,17,789. Twelve patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

According to the state Information and Public Relations Department, the total count includes 3,09,747 recoveries and 6,259 active cases.

Iran health ministry says Covid-19 infections slowing down

A report from Iran's health ministry on Saturday confirmed that the infections have slowed down in the country and that 89 of the 160 designated cities moved out of the high risk category.

Non essential government services are still barred in the country.

Iran's total cases rise to 935,799 after reporting 13,402 cases on Saturday alone. Death toll reached 7486 with 391 deaths in the past 24 hours, a health ministry spokeswoman said as quoted by news agency Reuters.

UK to provide free vitamin D supplements to more than 2.5 million 'vulnerable' people

Covid-19 pandemic has caused a large number of people to be confined to their houses in the UK, risking vitamin D deficiency.

To counter this, the UK government has planned to provide free supplements of the vitamin for care houses and people in the clinically extremely vulnerable list.

The deliveries are scheduled to begin from January, an official press release from the government said.
