Highlights: Govt says adverse events at trials won't affect Covid-19 vaccine

With 1,472 new cases and three new fatalities, total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia rises to 67,169 and death toll reaches 363. Recoveries in the country reached 56,311 with 1,552 patients discharged on Tuesday.

Health ministry DG Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that five new cases in the country were imported and local transmissions accounted for 1,467 cases, reports ANI.

With 4,006 new Covid-19 cases and 86 fatalities reported on Tuesday, total cases in Delhi stands at 574,380 and 9,260 deaths with a positivity rate of 6.85 per cent.

With 5,036 patients recovered/discharged, as reported on Tuesday, total recoveries reach 533,351. Currently, Delhi has 31,769 active cases.

Rajesh Bhushan, secretary, health ministry said that the adverse events reported during vaccine trials won't affect the timelines of the Covishield Covid-19 vaccine.

He also said that the Data Safety Monitoring Board and the Institutional Ethics Committee are monitoring the trials and all adverse events would be reported to the Drug Controller General of India, news agency ANI reported.
