Kerala reported 3,047 new coronavirus infections, taking the state's active case tally to 64,028. The total number of recoveries stands at 6,76,368 after 4,172 new ones.

Pfizer will complete its initial supply of 200 million vaccine doses to the EU by September, as per an EU Commission spokesperson.

Serum Institute of India's Adar Poonawalla said that since India was a part of Covax, they would give 50% of everything they make to India and Covax. He also said that given India's population, they would provide majority of the first 50 million doses to India only.

Russia logged 27,787 new coronavirus infections, taking the country's tally to 3,078,035. The death toll rose to 55,265 after 487 new fatalities.

Germany reported 10,976 new coronavirus infections, taking the country's tally to 1,651,834. 348 new deaths took the death toll to 30,126.

Speaking in Bolpur, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that despite the number of cases declining in the state, people need keep in mind the seriousness of the coronavirus, citing that the UK had to go into another lockdown to contain its spread.
