Highlights: Boris Johnson announces new Covid-19 restrictions for England

Scotland will introduce additional nationwide restrictions on household gatherings that go further than UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's new rules, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said, to halt the second wave of the novel coronavirus outbreak, reported news agency Reuters.

With the highest single-day jump of 3,712 cases, Iran's Covid-19 tally on Tuesday reached 429,193 while the toll from the disease stands at 24,656.

The Delhi High Court has stayed the Delhi government's order to private hospitals to reserve 80% ICU beds for Covid-19 patients till next date of hearing.

101,468 recoveries registered in last 24 hours. Total number of recoveries reach 4,497,867 while recovery rate 80.86%: Health ministry

Odisha's Covid-19 tally reaches 188,311 after 4,189 new cases. 149,379 recoveries, 38,158 active cases and 721 deaths in state thus far. 3,704 recoveries and 11 deaths in last 24 hours.

With 2,917 cases of Covid-19 on Monday, Mexico's tally reaches 700,580. Death toll, meanwhile, reaches 73,697.

Victoria, Australia's second-most populous state, reports 28 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths, up from 11 cases and two deaths from a day ago.

India's Covid-19 tally reaches 5,562,663 with 75,083 new infections in the last 24 hours. Death toll rises to 88,935 after 1,053 new deaths.
