India’s coronavirus tally crossed the 6.7 million mark after 72,049 new infections were reported between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Union health ministry’s dashboard showed. On Wednesday, parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi became the latest central minister to contract the infection as he announced in a tweet he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Also on Wednesday, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced all weekly capitals in the national capital can open. So far, only two markets per zone were allowed to open. Kejriwal also announced theatres in Delhi will reopen from October 15, in line with the Centre’s directives for the fifth phase of nationwide unlock or ‘reopening.’ The global Covid-19 tally, meanwhile, stands at over 36 million, including a death toll of more than a million, according to worldometers.

Kerala's Covid-19 tally reaches 2,56,850
In some relief after sharp spike in Covid-19 cases, Kerala on Thursday reported 7,003 recoveries and 5,445 fresh Covid-19 cases while the toll mounted to 930.
The total infection count has touched 2,56,850, while 1,67,256 people have recovered so far and 90,579 are presently undergoing treatment, Health Minister K K Shailaja said.
