The second day of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020 features former captain of Indian cricket team, Kapil Dev, in conversation with Ayaz Menon, sports writers and journalist. From post-Covid-cricket to bowlers' fitness to Virat Kohli's paternity leave, the legendary cricket touched an array of issues in the first session.
In the second session, Hindustan Times Executive Editor Kunal Pradhan spoke to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Though the session centred around the third wave of Covid-19 in Delhi, Kejriwal also talked about MCD, Congress and how he fails to understand why "liberals" are sometimes upset with him.
The virtual Summit will bring together global leaders to draw a blueprint for what lies ahead for India and the world. Live discussion will be spread over 4 weeks starting November 19, 2020; every Thursday and Friday.
The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit was launched in 2003 to enhance the level of discourse on critical issues, encourage interaction among leaders in important areas and present international quality thought- platforms aimed at solutions. The last seventeen Summits have been outstanding successes with attendance by leaders from India and across the world. The audience comprised of senior politicians, bureaucrats, diplomats, business executives, thinkers, commentators and analysts. Over the years, the Summit has become one of India’s most prestigious and eagerly awaited fora.
Will clean Yamuna in 4 years: Kejriwal
"Last time, I attended the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit ahead of the elections and promised many things. You must be thinking I have forgotten those. I remember every point. I has promised to clean the river Yamuna in five years. Now I am telling we will do it in four years," Kejriwal said.
Positivity rate has come down to 10% today, but keeping fingers crossed Kejriwal
"In the past few days, we are getting some positive indicators. Don't make it a headline that Kejriwal said third wave has receded. But the positivity rate has come down to 10 per cent from 15 per cent. Centre has co-operated a lot to reach this situation," Kejriwal said.
Unlike New York, Delhi didn't collapse, says Kejriwal
"The Peak in New York came on April 6, 6,353 cases were recorded and 575 died. Compare this with Delhi's death toll. I am not happy that 98 people died in Delhi on the peak day. It should not have happened. But Delhi didn't collapse," Kejriwal said.
Most factors are out of our control, says Kejriwal
Pollution along with other factors is exacerbating the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, says Arvind Kejriwal

"Delhi faced some extra-ordinary situation. Till March 22, around 32,000 people came Delhi from countries infected with Covid-19," Kejriwal said.

Don’t just think about T20 or IPL, look at Tests and ODIs too, says Kapil Dev
“Yes cricket has changed. People around the world only want to play IPL, BBL and tournaments like that. I’m a more positive person. I would say IPL has given us strength. What used to be county cricket, every player used to play there (in England) but today IPL is giving the same benefit to us as the players are coming and playing in India. This has urged the young generation further,” said Kapil Dev while speaking over video at the 18th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Read
