Union minister Smriti Irani calls Rahul Gandhi a 'VIP kisan' who uses 'sofa to sit on a tractor.' Further says Gandhi can never support a system that is meant to free small, marginal farmers from clutches of middlemen.

Speaking during the last leg of the second day of his Kheti Bachao Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't realise the power of the farmer and the poor, 'we will together show him the power.'

A farmer leader, identified as Yashpal, died during a protest against farm laws at Mehal Kalan toll plaza in Barnala. The deceased died of heart attack when he was speaking on the mike.

On Rahul Gandhi's visit to state from Tuesday, Haryana CM ML Khattar says, "I have no problem but law and order shouldn't be disrupted. If he will come with a procession from Punjab, that will not be allowed. He can do rally with the people here."

"Farmers will not be scared into submission and will brave Covid-19 to fight for their rights out on the streets of Punjab and the rest of the country," says Rahul Gandhi.

"When Modi will hand over this mandi system to Ambanis and Adanis, the common man has to spend double money on food items," says Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi says there are many flaws in Mandi system and there's a need to improve it. However, Modi is damaging this system and killing farmers and labourers, he says further.

"These farm laws are unjust. Punjab has not received GST for the last seven months. We'll call Assembly session if required," says CM Amarinder Singh.
