Cyclone Amphan, one of the strongest cyclonic storms in decades, caused havoc in the states of West Bengal and Odisha . Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to West Bengal on Friday to conduct an aerial survey of the damage caused by Cyclone Amphan. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that 72 people have died so far. The Bengal government has announced a compensation of 2 lakh to the families of the deceased. Odisha reported two deaths and NDRF Chief SN Pradhan said that situation in the state is under control. NDRF Chief SN Pradhan also said that around 5 lakh people have been evacuated from West Bengal and 2,37,296 have been evacuated from Odisha.
