Updates: Odisha reports 3 deaths due to cyclone Amphan

Odisha reported 3 deaths during cyclone. A woman of Bhogarai block in Balasore district died after an electric pole fell on her. The woman had stepped outside for some work when the pole uprooted due to the winds.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told televsion reporters that at least 10-12 persons have been killed in Cyclone Amphan in West Bengal. She also said that two districts - South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas - have been "totally devastated".

"There are 5 lakh persons in relief centers. Several areas are totally cut off and cannot be reached yet. We have no information yet - it will take at least 3-4 days to assess the damage," Banerjee said.

NDRF has deployed its 39 self-contained rescue and relief teams in coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha in view of Cyclonic storm Amphan. As many as 20 NDRF teams are deployed in the coastal areas of Odisha: Public Relations, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)

India Meteorological Department chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said the wind speed of Cyclone Amphan in Kolkata and adjoining districts likely to be 110-120 kmph with damage, reports PTI.
