Brazil reports over 15,800 new cases in last 24 hours
Monday was the fourth-straight day that India reported the biggest one-day rise in the number of coronavirus infections and more than 6,000 Covid-19 cases. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are over 1.38 lakh Covid-19 cases in the country including 4,021 deaths from the disease.
Meanwhile, air travel across the country resumed on Monday, after a gap of two months, with states announcing varied quarantine and self-isolation rules for arriving passengers to address misgivings about infections being brought in from other cities.

On the global front, Brazil registered 653 deaths in the last 24 hours with the death toll climbing to 22,666. Brazil currently is the second worst affected nation after the United States. In view of this, United States has suspended travel from the Latin American nation.

India reports 4,021 Covid-19 deaths, cases near 1,39,000-mark
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 4,021 deaths and 138,845 cases due to the novel coronavirus infection. 6,977 cases and 154 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Lockdown to ease from June 1 in South Africa, says President Ramaphosa
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a further easing of South Africa's coronavirus lockdown from June 1, allowing the vast majority of the economy to return to full capacity. South Africa has been largely shut down since late March, when the government enforced severe restrictions to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus which has so far infected 22,583 people and killed 429, reports Reuters.
56 new cases reported in Indore, total cases in city at 3,064
Indore reported 56 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the city stand at 3,064 whereas the death toll is at 116, the state's health department said, reports ANI.

United States limits travel from Brazil as outbreak worsens
White House on Sunday said it was restricting travel from Brazil to the United States, two days after the South American nation became the world's No. 2 hotspot for coronavirus cases, reports Reuters.
Covid-19 test mandatory for passengers landing at Chandigarh airport
All inbound air travellers of Punjab landing at Chandigarh airport shall be mandatorily tested for Covid-19 upon arrival, said Mohali District Magistrate (DM) Girish Dayalan. This comes as domestic flight operations resumed across the country from Monday except in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal after two months of suspension due to coronavirus-induced lockdown, reports ANI.

Coronavirus death toll in the United States has gone up by 638 in the last 24 hours Johns Hopkins University tracker reported. The death toll in the country has now reached is nearing 100,000 with total number of confirmed cases at 16,41,585, reports AFP.
