India has entered day six of the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown imposed by the Centre to curb the spread of coronavirus. In yet another highest one-day spike, the country recorded 6,654 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday. The total number of coronavirus cases in India have now crossed the 1.25 lakh-mark.
Even as medical journal The Lancet published a paper on Friday saying there were no confirmed benefits of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) being given to Covid-19 patients, the Union health ministry issued an advisory expanding the pool of people to be given the medicine as a prophylactic to prevent them from contracting the infection.

Globally, Spain which was one of the worst-affected nations further eased its lockdown restrictions and allowed outdoor dining and gatherings of up to 10 people. Whereas, death toll in United Kingdom is nearing the 37,000-mark. Brazil has overtaken Russia as the second most infected nation with the total number of cases at 330,890.

Russia reports 9,434 new cases in 24 hours
Russia said on Saturday that 9,434 new cases of the novel coronavirus had been reported in the last 24 hours, pushing its nationwide tally to 335,882, reports Reuters.
The country's coronavirus crisis response centre reported 139 new fatalities after a record of 150 deaths the day before, bringing the death toll to 3,388.

Top UN official warns malicious emails on rise in pandemic
The United Nations disarmament chief has warned that cyber crime is on the rise, with a 600% increase in malicious emails during the Covid-19 pandemic, reports AP.
Izumi Nakamitsu told an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday that the coronavirus crisis is moving the world toward increased technological innovation and online collaboration. But she said “there have also been worrying reports of (cyber) attacks against health care organizations and medical research facilities worldwide.”
The high representative for disarmament affairs said growing digital dependency has increased the vulnerability to cyberattacks, and it is estimated that one such attack takes place every 39 seconds.
4,000 Manipuris in Bengaluru want to return home
Around 4,000 migrant workers from Manipur gathered at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on Saturday morning for registration to return, Karnataka minister K Sudhakar told ANI.

IBM cuts jobs across United States
IBM told the Wall Street Journal it is laying off an undisclosed number of workers across the United States. The already-struggling tech giant's new CEO Arvind Krishna warned investors last month of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the company made a “tough decision” to withdraw revenue projections for the rest of 2020, reports AP.

The Bihar government in view of the coronavirus outbreak said that Migrants returning to the state from Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida, Kolkata and Bengaluru will be kept in quarantine camps and people returning from other places will be home quarantined if they don't show any symptoms, reports ANI.

China reports 28 new asymptomatic cases
China reported 28 new asymptomatic cases, majority of them from coronavirus epicentre Wuhan, while no new confirmed infection has been detected in the country, health officials said on Saturday. China's National Health Commission said that so far, 370 asymptomatic cases, including 26 from overseas, were under quarantine, reports PTI.
