The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 400,000 lives globally while more than seven million have been infected in less than six months since the emergence of Covid-19, the disease caused by Sars-Cov-2 virus.

In India, the total number of Covid-19 cases crossed 2.56 lakh including 7,135 deaths according to the Union health ministry figures.

New Zealand to end social distancing after eliminating Covid-19

New Zealand will remove social distancing requirements after reporting zero active cases of Covid-19, indicating it has achieved its aim of eliminating the virus, reports Bloomberg.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Monday that all remaining restrictions on people and businesses, other than strict border controls to keep the virus out, will be lifted at midnight tonight, paving the way for a resumption of normal life. The South Pacific nation earlier reported that the last of its coronavirus patients has recovered, making it one of the few countries in the world to have successfully eradicated the pathogen.

China reports six new imported Covid-19 cases

China has reported six new imported coronavirus infections, including two asymptomatic cases, health officials said on Monday,reports PTI.

Out of the four confirmed imported coronavirus cases reported on Sunday, three are from Sichuan Province and one from Shanghai, the National Health Commission (NHC) said.

Delhi opens borders with neighbouring states

US adds almost 700 new coronavirus deaths in 24 hours

The coronavirus pandemic killed 691 people in the United States over the past 24 hours, the lowest number in a week, figures from Johns Hopkins University showed on Sunday, reports AFP.

There have been a total of 110,482 deaths in the country and 1,938,842 cases, the Baltimore-based institutions' real-time tracker reported at 8:30 pm (0030 GMT Sunday).
