The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 7,00,000 and caused more than 30,000 deaths globally. With infections crossing 140,000, the United States has emerged as the new Covid-19 hot spot. President Donald Trump said Sunday that the peak death rate in the United States from the coronavirus pandemic was likely to hit in two weeks. He has also extended the government’s “social distancing” guidelines until April 30. Japan is set to extend its entry ban to include citizens that have travelled to United States, China, Europe and South Korea to stop the spread of the virus.
In India, the number of Covid-19 cases crossed 1,000 on Sunday including the death toll of 29 as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare figures. Fresh cases were reported in Noida, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

SC seeks status report from Centre on steps taken to prevent migration of workers
The Supreme Court on Monday sought a status report from the Centre by Tuesday on the measures taken in view of the large-scale migration of labourers from cities to their native villages amid the coronavirus outbreak and the consequent lockdown across the country, reports PTI.
The top court observed that the migration of labourers out of panic and fear is becoming a bigger problem than the coronavirus.
It said the court would not create more confusion by issuing directions on measures that the government is already taking to deal with the issue.
MP to release 5,000 convicts on emergency parole
Madhya Pradesh is releasing about 5,000 convicts on emergency parole of 60 days, reports ANI.
Another 3,000 undertrials will be released on interim bail of 45 days in the next two days. of 60 days.

Netanyahu aide diagnosed with coronavirus, unclear if Israeli PM affected
An aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tested positive for coronavirus, officials said on Monday, but it was not immediately clear if the 70-year-old leader had been exposed or his work affected, reports Reuters.
"We will take action in accordance with Health Ministry directives," an official said, announcing the diagnosis of the parliamentary aide, whom Israeli media described as being in good condition.

Doctors working in Lok Nayak Hospital and GB Pant Hospital on coronavirus duty would be provided accommodation at Hotel Lalit and payment of the same shall be borne by Govt of Delhi. France steps up coronavirus evacuations from packed Hospitals
France staged its largest evacuation of coronavirus patients to date from hospitals in the hard-hit east on Sunday, increasing efforts to free up intensive care units as officials warned of an influx of serious cases in the coming days. reports AFP.
Toyota halts production in European plants
Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday its auto plants in Europe will halt production, at least until April 20, because of the new coronavirus outbreak. Its European plants are in France, Great Britain, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Turkey and Portugal, reports AP.

Thailand reports 136 new coronavirus cases
Thailand saw 136 new coronavirus cases on Monday, raising the total number of infections to 1,524, said the spokesman of the government's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), reports Reuters.
Pakistan records 1600 COVID-19 positive cases, 17 deaths
At least 100 new cases were reported from across the country that took the total tally of coronavirus positive cases in Pakistan to 1600, while the death toll stood at 17, health officials confirmed on Monday. Pakistan by far has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in South Asia, reports ANI.
