Jharkhand's Jamatra reports first Covid-19 case
The novel coronavirus has claimed 886 lives and there are 21,132 active Covid-19 cases in the country, according to the Union health ministry figures released on Monday morning.
Globally, more than 205,000 deaths have occurred due to the virus and nearly three million cases have been recorded since the epidemic surfaced in China in December, according to an AFP tally.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with chief ministers in a video conference today that focussed on the next move in India’s battle plan against Covid-19. While the Meghalaya CM wanted the lockdown to continue, other states like Himachal and Gujarat said the decision should be taken after consulting with all states.

Thirty six new cases of coronavirus disease Covid-19 has been reported in Rajasthan, taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,221, Rajasthan health department said on Monday.

The number of Germany's confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 1,018 to 155,193, data from the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases showed on Monday, reports Reuters.
The death toll rose by 110 to 5,750, according to the tally.

Asian markets rallied Monday as the rate of deaths from coronavirus sank in several badly hit countries, while leaders stepped up plans to reopen their economies, though oil prices sank with supply glut fears overshadowing output reductions, reports AFP.
Traders are also keeping a keen eye on key meetings of central banks in Japan, the US and Europe this week, hoping for further financial support to offset the impact of the virus, which is expected to have sent the world into recession.
India records 1,396 new Covid-19 cases, 48 deaths in 24 hours
India recorded 1,396 new Covid-19 cases and 48 deaths from the disease in last 24 hours, taking the total number of Coronavirus cases in the country to 27,892, according to the figures released by the Union health ministry on Monday morning.
These include 20,835 active cases, 6,184 cured/ discharged patients, 872 deaths and one migrated case.
